“Without streets and vehicles, the uproar of wheels, the brutality of horses, and with its little winding ways where people crowd together, where voices sound as in the corridors of a house where the human step circulates as if it skirted the angles of furniture and shoes never wear out, the place has the character of an immense collective apartment, in which Piazza San Marco is the most adorned corner”.

The Verona Arena (Arena di Verona) is a Roman amphitheatre in Verona, Italy, which is internationally famous for the large-scale opera performances given there.
Opera at Arena di Verona
It is one of the best preserved ancient structures of its kind. The building itself was built in AD 30 on a site which was then beyond the city walls. The ludii (shows and games) staged there were so famous that spectators came from many other places, often far away, to witness them. The amphitheatre could host more than 30,000 spectators in ancient times.
The Temppeliaukio church located in the heart of Helsinki is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city; half a million people visit it annually. Maintaining the original character of the square is the fundamental concept behind the building.
Temppeliaukio church exterior
The idiosyncratic choice of form has made it a favorite with professionals and aficionados of architecture. Construction began in February 1968, and the rock-temple was completed for consecration in September 1969.
Temppeliaukio church interior
The interior was excavated and built into the rock, but is bathed in natural light entering through the glazed dome. The church is used frequently as a concert venue due to its excellent acoustics. The acoustic quality is ensured by the rough, virtually unworked, rock surfaces. The back wall of the altar is a majestic rock wall, originally created by a withdrawing glacier.
In what is now called the “balcony scene”, Romeo sneaks into the Capulet courtyard and overhears Juliet on her balcony vowing her love to him in spite of her family’s hatred of the Montagues. Romeo makes himself known to her and they agree to be married. With the help of Friar Laurence, who hopes to reconcile the two families through their children’s union, they are secretly married the next day.
Shakespeare’s famous play Romeo and Juliet has been updated by Baz Luhrmann to the hip modern suburb of Verona still retaining its original dialogue in the 1996 released Movie with Leonardo di Caprio and Claire Danes. Enjoy the balcony scene below.
At the time I’m writing this post the ArounderTouch users are 116′000. We got several thousand feedback, the majority of them were overwhelmingly positive. In the Italian app store we achieved rank 1 of the free apps. We are satisfied with these results, considering that ArounderTouch has been released in the app store December 4th, 2009.
We are currently working on the 1.1 update of ArounderTouch, which will take into consideration the majority of user feedback received, as well as some features which didn’t make it in version 1, due to time constraints.
Another nice feature is that we’ll announce new published content to the users though push notifications.
We created also a Guest Photographer feature, where ArounderTouch invites a select group of panorama photographers to contribute with some of their best panoramas of their city. So expect soon to be able to explore great new locations.
We expect to launch the new version toward the end of February. Stay tuned with ArounderBlog for fresh infos about ArounderTouch.
